LAMB CHOPS and MINT SAUCE Project Model

The LAMB CHOPS and MINT SAUCE Project Model is something that developed over quite a number of years of my involvement with coaching student project teams through capstone projects, mostly in the Management area. It was further refined through supervision of specialist Practicum projects in the areas of Human Resources, Management, and Marketing. Working through a portfolio of projects for a Doctorate in Professional Practice (Leadership) is the inspiration that’s bought everything together into the model as it now stands.

My experience over many years with collaborative student projects and collaborative assessment has demonstrated that the main reasons student project teams don’t achieve the full personal and interpersonal growth they are capable of, and often don’t deliver projects that are as value-packed as they could be, are connected with the largely “soft” knowledge and skills it’s assumed learners either already have or will somehow develop during the life of the project. Best results, however, depend on something more planned than “somehow” as an approach. That’s where LAMB CHOPS and MINT SAUCE comes in, delivering the essential soft skills knowledge alongside practical experiences designed to enhance personal growth and self-belief opportunities. Everything learned through the model can then be applied immediately as part of scoping and managing both a project and a team.

This model can be customised and integrated into an existing capstone approach, or it can be used as a stand-alone training piece before the main work of a project starts. The choice will be determined by what you and your learners need. Making the model even more valuable, it’s not just restricted to learners in a Tertiary educational environment – this can fit any project, any team, any time, anywhere…
